Lisa is a Regional Representative with the Canadian Labour Congress where she assists area Labour Councils to engage in their communities. Prior to this, she was a Constituency Assistant to a Federal Member of Parliament. She began her career working as a machine operator in an iron foundry where she quickly learned to stand up for herself and advocate for safer working conditions. She was an active member of her local union serving as Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee, Vice-Chairperson of the Women’s Committee and was a Discussion Leader for the National Union. While working full time, she achieved a Master’s in Communications and Social Justice. After being laid off, she attained a Bachelor of Education Degree and taught grade 1 for several years in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
