Jesse Kancir is a public health physician and Nova Scotia’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health, with training spanning medicine, public health, public policy, and health economics from institutions including UBC, Cambridge, and the London School of Economics. Having lived and worked across Canada – from Ontario to Yukon, British Columbia, and now Nova Scotia – he is passionate about strengthening health systems, advancing equity, and building healthy communities throughout Canada. Beyond clinical and policy work, Jesse is actively engaged in leadership with several national medical organizations, contributing to governance, education, and advocacy that shapes the future of healthcare leadership across the country.
