Emily Woods is passionate about how storytelling, partnerships, and thoughtful innovation can advance national initiatives and create positive change. She currently serves as Director General of Communications at the National Research Council of Canada, leading communications for the country’s largest research and innovation organization. Over the course of her career, Emily has worked across Canada, including nearly a decade in the Canadian Arctic, where she had the privilege of learning from diverse perspectives and ways of knowing. Her experience spans federal, provincial, and territorial governments, as well as work with an Indigenous organization, shaping her commitment to inclusive, place-based public engagement and collaboration. In her personal time, she finds balance and perspective by skiing and running the trails of Gatineau Park in Quebec.
