Being surrounded by entrepreneurs and community minded family, it is no surprise that is where Colleen’s interests lie. After completing a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland, she returned to Fogo Island to begin her career with Shorefast, a charity operating social businesses on Fogo Island. With Shorefast, she has worked across various departments including Accounting, HR, and now in Operations. Outside of work, Colleen is the Secretary of the Fogo Island Ferry Committee and President of the Fogo Island Central Women’s Dart League. She and her husband, along with their Bernese Porter, enjoy trips to the cabin, and kayaking in the harbour!

Colleen Best a grandi dans un milieu d’entrepreneurs au service de leur communauté, et la pomme n’est pas tombée loin de l’arbre. Après avoir obtenu un baccalauréat en administration des affaires à la Memorial, elle est revenue sur l’île Fogo pour débuter sa carrière chez Shorefast, un organisme de bienfaisance qui gère des entreprises sociales sur l’île. Elle a travaillé dans divers services de l’organisme, notamment la comptabilité et les ressources humaines, et en dirige aujourd’hui les opérations. En dehors du travail, Colleen Best est secrétaire du comité du traversier et présidente de la ligue féminine de fléchettes de l’île. Elle aime faire du kayak et passer du temps au chalet avec son mari et leur bouvier bernois.
